I drive a 2001 Crown Victoria which averages 20? mpg on the road. I check the air pressure in my tires and reduce the amount of stuff I keep in the trunk. I am asking; What more can I do to save gas / improve fuel economy?
I have heard changing the air filter regularly and adding fuel injector fluid a few times a year while getting fuel.
Help? Thanks in advance!

1. drive 60 mph - this is your biggest savings.
2. coast downhills

From Ford Motor Company:

"EcoBoost is a family of turbocharged, direct injected gasoline engines produced by the Ford Motor Company. Engines equipped with EcoBoost technology are designed to deliver power and torque consistent with larger displacement, naturally aspirated engines while achieving approximately 20% better fuel efficiency and 15% reduced greenhouse emissions than these same engines. Relative to the power output and fuel efficiency of hybrid and diesel technologies, Ford sees EcoBoost as an affordable and versatile alternative and intends on using it extensively in future vehicle applications."

Full hybrids like the Ford Escape hybrid or the Ford Fusion hybrid get their EPA rated MPG when driven over 30 minutes per trip, under 55 mph, in warm weather, and if the driver accelerates and decelerates gently. A full hybrid like the Prius will get significantly below their EPA rating when driven hard, under 15 minutes per trip, in extreme cold, driven very fast around corner/bends, or/and driven at speeds over 70 mph.

Get a Ford Hybrid! I Have a Ford Escape Hybrid FWD that averages 32.5 mpg real world. Has 140,000 miles on it too! No problems with battery, I here NY taxis get over 300,000 miles with no problems, so I'll keep mine for awile longer! Waiting for new Fusions with 47mpg for my wife.

Looks like you are exactly in line with other 2001 Crown Vic drivers:

Fuelly.com: Ford Crown Victoria Mileage

Most fuel saving products are snake oil, plain and simple. You are probably wasting money to change your air filter more than every other year, unless you drive in extremely dusty conditions. Fuel injector cleaner is usually not necessary, since all fuels now have detergents included in their formulas.

In my opinion, the biggest difference you can make is to change your driving style. Accelerate gently, coast to red lights, avoid idling (as in drive through lines).
