I was curious if anyone has ever heard of converting a Honda Civic to full electric power. I seem to recall seeing something on tv a while back about someone ripping out the drivetrain of a 5th generation Civic Hatchback (1992-1995 model year) and filling the entire thing with batteries.

With gas prices going the way they are going, I wonder when it would be cost-effective to go electric.

The conversion would cost more than anything you'd save. Don't do it.

I doubt you'd gain anything; the price of electricity isn't going to stay put either with the price of fuel oil rising.

Man! That would be AWESOME!! Cut my 25 mile, one-way commute down a bit by making a straight line path. Plus, I'd bypass all the red lights, too. Got to google that and see if I can find it. :D

No, but I saw a conversion way back in the day to convert a Honda CRX into a small airplane. The kit had quick connect wings and tail section. You need to add a small gas powered engine in the back to power the propeller. The darn thing actually flew. There had to be some controls added somewhere.
