In another frustrating case for motorists, Enbridge recently reported a rupture at its largest pipeline feeding refineries in the Midwest. Line 6A ruptured near Romeoville, IL late last week, carrying nearly 460,000 barrels of oil per day to refineries in the Chicago and Northwest Indiana area.

The immediate impact is this: three major refineries are lacking their main source for crude oil, which they then refine into gasoline. BP's Whiting, Indiana complex has the capacity to refine 410,000 barrels per day, but will likely cut production as Enbridge halts its pipeline. Refineries owned by Citgo and ExxonMobil will likely also be impacted. The three refineries have the capacity to refine 808,000 barrels per day when fully operational...

A rupture in a pipeline feeding three main refineries - BP, Citgo and Exxon. Fuel prices are sure to increase until the pipeline is repaired. And the natural gas pipe in California ruptures too. Companies need to check their pipelines, equipment and facilities to make sure this does not happen.

Look like this still a better way to purchase crude than drill in the gulf. Those the rest of the world is drilling 1/2 again in 7500 feet of water regularly in Africa and Brazil

Isn't it amazing how one pipeline lead can screw so many of us!! We jumped to $2.85 last week because of this.

this is going to hurt the seasonal shoppers, as they will have less disposable income to spend.

Gas prices are up in Michigan, about 20 to 30 cents per gallon.

Remember when we heard people complaining that high prices were caused by government regulations, and that once those regulations were relaxed we would have a better economy? That is the Republican philosophy.

How is that "less government thingy" working for you now?

Anybody in favor of a bailout for Enbridge?

Anybody in favor of a bailout for us?

Anybody in favor of a class-action lawsuit against Enbridge? Save your gas receipts.

It would appear that this could be repaired quickly if they wanted to. I guess reality is that all the key players see the opportunity to make more money - higher gas prices, higher oil prices - so why fix it fast? So we just pay to line their pockets.

I doubt the economy could recover from another bout of $4.00+ gas prices. We still haven't gotten over the massive layoffs and price hikes associated with the last spike a few years ago. About the only "good" thing is that not as many people will be affected this time around since they no longer have jobs they need to drive to.
