I don't see how either group knows for a fact that this is man-made or not. We don't have thousands of years of the effects of carbon emissions on the earth to say whether it is caused by man completely, increased by man, or just a naturally recurring phenomenon.
In my opinion, to think the answer is clear and clean-cut either way is pretty naive. I know smog and pollution can lead to higher temperatures, but I also know that the glaciers in Alaska started receding 200+ years ago.

And like I said MidNJ, the climate has been warming for the last 25,000 years, man has nothing to do with it.
And for that very reason, most glaciers have been retreating for the last 25,000 years thus rendering pointing to glaciers as indicators of anthropogenic change baseless.

As the world leader, we have to blaze the trail and get ours. However, a fleet of icebreakers would only be prudent as one never knows when a bout of global cooling might begin.

"Congrats soda pop queen, you win the coveted "Fossil Foolers" of the day award for your nonsense and constant Big Oil party line misinformation here. Hope your Exxon Mobil stock is doing well today! Please remain as delusional and entertaining as always." ======================= ROFLMAO, what great reaction to the facts posted! Of course this comes from one and the same who once posted the lie that "no one knows of any glaciers that are growing in the US" I reckon poor widdle NHL has got their feewings hurt and has decided to pick up the toys, throw a tantrum and head back to momma!
That's ok, it's a free country (well kinda), I'll keep bringing up the FACTS that lend to intelligent discussion and credibility. :=)

Earth is in constant change and global warming has been occuring since the last ice age. If there is an erruption of multiple volcanos we will be worried about drastic global cooling.

MidNJ- "But, but, but - I thought there was no such thing as global warming." ==================== Only the hypothesis of anthropogenic warming is no such thing.
The climate has been trending warmer for the last 25,000 years since the last full blown ice age.

This is just part of big cycles. Just look at the sun spots. It is nature, not man.

Only in the perverse world of the fossil foolers is the artic ice melting @ "an alarming rate" a good thing and a business opportunity.
These fools are taking us over the cliff.
And its a long way down.

Humans are very adept at using and abusing the resources at it fingertips. If there is an extra square inch of land to rape, someone will do it.

I guess the author conveniently forgot to mention the places where the ice is growing... As a member of the liberal think tank Center for American Progress, this is understandable.

Last time I was there, the glaciers were receding. I wonder how much change one or two years of heavy snow makes in the size of the glaciers.

Go to Alaska and see how much of the glaciers have melted there. Altonb1 you need to check your sources.
