The refurbishing of Kulluk and other Shell work done in the Pacific Northwest has pumped some $200 million into the local economy, according to company officials. This could be the launch to what may be a decade of exploration and development of offshore oil fields in Arctic waters.

"It's the first new maritime-associated industry to start to emerge in Puget Sound in decades, and we're just thrilled about it," said John Lockwood, a senior adviser at Vigor Shipyards, which landed

Wow! Talk about misinformation! Joeski1 comes up with another one -"the fisherman, shrimpers and crabbers now call this area of the gulf 'the dead zone"

Cause of Dead Zone in Gulf: Tile Drainage Directly Related to Nitrate Loss.

The truth shall set you free!
Lies and deception will enslave.

From the article: "The refurbishing of Kulluk and other Shell work done in the Pacific Northwest has pumped some $200 million into the local economy, according to company officials."

===================================================================

This is no small chunk of change and will do more to revitalize a sluggish economy than Federal "job creation" programs.

it could also cause one big ass non repairable oil spill during the cold of winter when no repair could likely be possible for months... thus pollutiong the entire artic sea..

hmmm just like the gulf of mexico... anybody take a long look at the gulf floor where the oil settled out???

I would love to see actual photos of this area right now... to see what it looks like with an inch or two of oil muck still slimed on it...

the fisherman, shrimpers and crabbers now call this area of the gulf 'the dead zone'

It could; indeed it should, but will vested interests allow it?
